Your wings are ready, your class is picked, and your friends are arguing about factions. There’s just one decision left before you dive into Aion 2: where are you all going to play? Western Early Access is already underway, with the full free-to-play launch arriving October 5. You can keep building on an Early Access server or join a fresh launch server for that glorious first-day scramble.
Both options have their appeal. The trick is choosing somewhere you’ll still be happy playing once the launch excitement settles.
Get the squad on the same page
Before comparing head starts or server populations, find out where your friends and guild are going. Agree on three things: region, faction, and server. Screenshot the choice if you have to. Someone saying “we’re on Siel” while forgetting to mention the region is exactly how a simple plan becomes an evening of rerolling.
Aion 2 puts Elyos and Asmodians on separate servers, then pairs those servers for faction clashes in the Abyss and Spacetime Rifts. Those pairings can change over time, so picking your faction also means picking which side of the fight you’ll represent. Cross-server dungeon parties give friends in the same region some breathing room. You can still tackle dungeons together across servers, but sharing a home server makes everyday adventuring much easier.
If you’re planning to explore, join a guild, and spend most evenings together, make that shared destination your priority.
Don’t build your plan around a later transfer
Server transfers are planned to begin October 14, with moves limited to the same faction. Here’s the detail to remember: Early Access players will only be able to transfer between Early Access servers under the announced rules. They cannot transfer into fresh launch servers, so if your friends are waiting for a fresh server, “I’ll grind now and move over later” won’t get your existing character there. You can still use Early Access to try classes and learn the ropes.
Just understand that joining your friends on a fresh server means starting a new character there. A little practice now could make your launch-day adventure smoother. You’ll know which buttons feel good, which class clicks, and whether your carefully crafted character still looks amazing outside the character creator.
Fresh servers have that opening-day magic
There’s something special about an MMO server where everyone is getting started together. Players are learning routes, figuring out bosses, forming guilds, and discovering which fights deserve a little more respect. Your group gets to experience those early wins together, from its first dungeon clear to its first chaotic encounter with the other faction.
Fresh launch servers also keep existing Early Access characters from transferring their head start across under the announced restrictions. That makes them an appealing choice if you want a shared starting point. It won’t keep everyone at the same level forever, some players will sprint ahead, but you’ll be joining the opening wave rather than catching an established one.
Fresh servers are especially worth considering if your friends begin October 5 or you simply love being there when a new community takes shape.
Already having fun in Early Access? That counts
If you’ve found a class you love, joined a lively guild, and started making friends, you already have good reasons to stay.
A fresh server might sound exciting, but restarting means repeating progression and leaving behind the community you’ve begun building. That trade can be worthwhile when your whole group is moving. It’s less tempting when you’re already enjoying your evenings. Free players can join Early Access servers after launch if those servers remain open and available. Your friends waiting until October 5 may still be able to join you. Check character creation before promising them a spot, a plan works much better when everyone can actually get through the door.
Give your membership a quick check
Before clicking through your rewards, make sure you’ve chosen your home. Membership benefits apply to characters on the server where the membership was purchased, rather than every server on your account. Trying several classes on one server is therefore a different situation from hopping between servers.
Founder’s Pack cosmetics are getting more flexibility. NC announced that included cosmetics will become available across all characters and servers on the account, though implementation was still pending as of October 4. The included 30-day membership and consumable chests are excluded from that change and retain their existing rules.
That’s good news for anyone who wants their Founder’s look on multiple characters. Just check the current claiming instructions before assuming the rest of the pack follows you everywhere.
Pick a community you’ll enjoy playing with
It’s tempting to chase the busiest server or follow whichever streamer has the biggest crowd. An active world can be great fun, especially if you enjoy large guilds and plenty of competition.
Think about your own evenings, too. Do you want a competitive guild pushing hard? A relaxed group running dungeons after work? Friends who will happily spend an hour exploring because someone spotted something interesting? Queues, character creation availability, and your group’s usual playtimes all deserve a look. A huge population doesn’t automatically make a server the best fit, and a fresh start doesn’t guarantee shorter queues or balanced PvP.
At launch, nobody can reliably tell you which server will have the strongest community months from now – Choose using what you can check today.

Where should you land?
| Your situation | Best fit |
|---|---|
| Your friends are starting on a fresh launch server | Start fresh together |
| Your guild is already settled in Early Access | Stay, and check whether incoming friends can join |
| You love discovering an MMO alongside other newcomers | Join a fresh launch server |
| You’re already enjoying your character and community | Keep that adventure going |
| You’re using Early Access to try classes | Experiment, then commit where your group plans to play |
| You’re relying on a transfer into a fresh server | Change the plan before investing further |
Your best server is the one that gives you good reasons to log back in. If your crew is waiting for launch, starting together could be worth far more than a few days of progression. If you’ve already found your people in Early Access, keep spreading those wings.
Get the destination agreed, check your rewards, and save the real arguments for who pulled the boss.
